Basic Connectivity Testing

First, please check with LandSafe to see if this procedure is still necessary.

After you install the software run this test to check that your software is configured properly:

1.           Run Nova Forms from the Windows95/98 Start Menu | Programs | Day One Nova Products.

2.           Open the URAR file named LANDSAFE (it has already been created for you) by selecting File | Open Form from the menu bar. Then select ‘Uniform Residential Appraisal Report’ from the ‘Choose Form’ dropdown list, and type LANDSAFE in the Report File Number box. IMPORTANT: DO NOT modify the URAR file.

3.           Open the CountryWide Additional Data Form by clicking the ‘Paper Clip’ toolbar button (or by selecting File | Open Addendum from the menu bar) and select this form from the list on the right.

4.           Please complete ONLY your First Name, Middle Initial (if appropriate), and Last Name. DO NOT make any other changes (figure 2).

5.           Save and close the CountryWide Additional Data Form.

6.           Close the URAR form, but leave the Forms software running. (If you have already closed Forms, restart as described in Step 1).

7.           From the menu bar, select Utilities | LandSafe Comm Module.

8.           When the Comm Module application is displayed, click the ‘Prepare Files’ button.

9.           Select "LANDSAFE.NUA" from the list of files (or type LANDSAFE.NUA in the File Name box). This will convert the file to the LandSafe format, and LANDSAFE.VMP should appear in the list of prepared files (figure 3a).

10.         Click the ‘Send Files’ button. This will display the ‘No Matching Order Found’ dialog box (figure 3b).

11.         Fill in the information as shown in figure 3b (Note: the 0’s are the number zero, not the letter O!). Fill in the blank Appraiser ID with your LandSafe Appraiser ID.

12.         Click the ‘OK’ button to place the test file in your Outbox. If the OK button is grayed, the required information has not been completed. Please make sure you have entered the information as shown in figure 3b.

13.         If Outlook98 has been properly configured, you should hear your modem dial and connect, and you should see a progress bar as the test file is sent. You may want to run Outlook98 and verify that the test message to LAS-Vmp is in the Sent Items folder, and not in your Outbox. If it remains in your Outbox, click the Send & Receive button.
