About the Day One Software Directory Structure
TECHIE NOTE: Forms’ data files are in C:\NOVA\DATA (unless you choose to put them elsewhere). They are named nnnnnnnn.xxx where nnnnnnnn is the up-to-eight-character appraisal number and xxx is the file extension. xxx can be:
.nua – URAR (1004), .con – CONDO (1073), etc
To see a list of these extensions and their form types, choose File | New and scroll through the Form Type field.
The installation procedure for Forms creates a \NOVA\FORMS directory for the Forms program files. Data is in \NOVA\DATA. The Forms database files (*.mdb) are stored in the \NOVA directory. The Forms configuration file, d1frms32.ini, is stored in the \WINDOWS directory (or \WINNT for Windows NT and 2000). If you reinstall the software, you should first make backups of any of the above-mentioned files you have.
Other Day One Software is installed in other directories, also below \NOVA. You should not change these directory names.
Change the Forms Data Directory
TIP: Most users can skip this step altogether.
TIP: Most users allow Forms to use the default directory (\NOVA\DATA) to store data.
The Directory Options command allows you to choose where you would like your appraisals to be stored. If you do not choose where to store your appraisals, they are all stored in your Nova Forms directory, \NOVA\DATA.
For example, you may want to use this command to tell Forms to store all your appraisals on a particular network drive for convenient backup.
TIP: If you would like to store an appraisal on a diskette, do NOT enter the A drive pathname here. Instead, follow the directions in Putting an Appraisal on Diskette.
To specify where you want your appraisals to be stored:
1. Choose Configuration | Directory Options | Forms Data.
2. Click the "Directory" button and browse to the desired location on your local drive or a network drive.
