Initial File Number  

The Initial File Number command allows you to set the Initial File number that Nova Forms will use when it automatically generates file numbers for saving appraisals.

To set the Initial File number:

1. Close any forms that might be open or you will not be able to set the initial file number.

TIP: Some appraisers use an 8 digit file number starting with today’s date such as: 01080001 where 01 is there year, 08 is the month, and 0001 is the appraisal

2. Choose Configuration | Initial File number. The Initial File number dialog appears, as shown in Figure 2-13.

3. Type the number you would like Forms to use as your Initial File number. File numbers can be up to 8 digits long.

4. Click OK.

When you start your next form and click the "Next Available" button, Forms will number it as the number you entered plus one.

WARNING: file numbers must be 8 characters or less, and cannot contain spaces.

Initial Client Number

The Initial Client Number command allows you to set the Initial Client number that Nova Forms will use when it automatically generates Client numbers.

TIP: Close any forms that might be open or you will not be able to set the Initial Client number.

To set the Initial Client number:

1. Choose Configuration | Initial Client number. The Initial Client number dialog appears, as shown in Figure 2-8.

2. Type the number you would like Forms to use as your Initial Client number. Client numbers can be up to 8 digits long.

3. Click OK.

4. When you enter your next new client into the Client database and click the "Next Available" button, Forms will number it as the number you entered here plus one.
