Nova Office Quick Start Guide

This Quick Start Guide barely scratches the surface of Nova Office, and does not explain things in as much depth as the rest of the manual. It is highly recommended that this section be used for quick evaluation purposes, and for immediate gratification after installing a new software product. We like to install software and dive right in before we know what we are doing, too!

Covered below are two main topics: Add a new Case and Bill a Case, as well as some general tips on using Nova Office. Enjoy!

Add a new Case:

1.   Start Nova Office by double-clicking the Nova Office desktop icon

2.   Enter your User Name and Password

3.   Click the Create New Case button on the Quick Start Bar to create a new case

4.   If the Case Number dialog appears, manually enter a new Case Number (8 digits), or press the [F2] function key for the next available number. See the Initial Case Numbers topic for more information.

5.   Enter your case data into the Edit Case dialog. TIP: Use the Page Up and Page Down keys to move from tab to tab

·      To fill in a Client, click the drop-down arrow next to the Client Name or Client ID fields. You can also add a new Client by clicking the Quick Add button next to the Client Name field.

·      To fill in a R.E. Professional, click the drop-down arrow next to either the R.E. Prof. Name or R.E. Prof. ID fields. You can also add a new Real Estate Professional by clicking the Quick Add button image\ebd_ebd204.gif next to the R. E. Prof. Name field.

·      To fill in a Product, click the Products button (a Client must be selected first). This displays the Product Selection dialog (see below). The default list displayed is the Client Product list. To view the Default list, or the entire list of Products, simply select the appropriate radio button in "Select From". Select the product that will be the main form and click the Add button. Repeat for any additional forms. When you have completed your product selection, click the OK button.

·      Continue filling in data on the various tabs

·      To print the Appraisal Order Sheet, click the Print button on the Toolbar. Please see the Setup Reports topic prior to printing the Order Sheet for the first time.

·      Click the Save button to save and close the case

Bill a Case:

1.   Click the Bill Cases button on the Quick Start Bar (or select Accounting | Bill Cases). This displays the Find Cases dialog. Shortcut: press the F8 function key.

2.   Type in a Case number in the Case # field (or search via any of the other fields on the "Find Cases" dialog)

3.   Click the OK button. The Select Cases for Billing dialog is displayed.

4.   Ctrl-Click the desired case and click the OK button.

5.   Fill in the Invoice Number and Invoice Date fields (at a minimum)

6.   Click the Print button on the toolbar

7.   Click the Save button to save and close the Bill a Case dialog

 

Choose and Select Dialog Boxes:

Nova Office displays several types of lists including: lists of cases, clients, R.E. Professionals, and Products. These lists are typically displayed in a grid. Whenever a grid dialog appears, you can rearrange the columns and sort the data in the list in a variety of different ways:

·      To rearrange the columns in the list box, click and drag the title of the column you want to move to the location where you would like it to be.

·      To sort the data in any column in ascending order, hold down the Shift key and click on the column’s header.

·      To sort in descending order, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking the column’s header.

·      To sort based on other criteria, hold down the Alt key and click the column’s header.

Nova Office General Data Entry:

·      Press [Tab] to move to the next field

·      Press {Shift]-[Tab] to move to the previous field

·      Some windows have tabs across the bottom. [PgDn] will move you to the next tab, and [PgUp] will go to the previous tab. You can also just click on the tab.

·      Date fields: [Alt]-D enters today’s date; [Alt]-T enters the current date and time

·      Phone number fields: Just enter the numbers, Nova Office will fill in the parentheses and dashes for you
