NOVA Office

Overview of Nova Office

Nova Office is software to help you efficiently manage every aspect of your appraisal production. Nova Office is a menu-driven appraisal order entry, tracking and communications system.

Nova Office can:

·      Track current, pending and completed cases.

·      Maintain important milestones in the case cycle, such as inspection date and case completion date.

·      Maintain Client, Real Estate Professional, and Product databases.

·      Calculate crucial dates to help you manage your business and time better.

·      Search for specific information.

·      Perform basic accounting, including cash receipts posting for individual and multiple cases, R.E Professional payments, and invoice creation.

·      Produce reports. The Access Report Manager comes complete with a variety of reports. You can preview these reports, print them, or write them to a file. If you have special reporting needs, you can create your own custom reports using Microsoft Access 97. Day One’s development team can also create custom reports for you. Please contact Day One Sales at 1-800-438-3291 for more information and pricing on custom reports.

Before You Install the Nova Office software: make sure you have installed all the hardware and software System Requirements listed in Chapter 1.

Install the Nova Office software: Insert the CD into your CD drive. If the installation menu does not automatically appear, select Start | Run and type d:\setup (substitute the CD-ROM drive letter for d) and click OK.

Choose Install Nova 5.1. Select Install Nova Office. Answer any questions that appear.

Run Nova Office: Select Start | Programs | Day One Products | Nova Office or double-click on the Nova Office icon on your Windows desktop.

Enter your User Name and Password: The default user name is MANAGER, the password is 159753.

To configure Nova Office: Go through each item in the Utilities menu, enter the information requested, and click OK.

VERY IMPORTANT: The View menu changes to offer you appropriate commands depending on which window is "selected" on your screen. For more information, see the About the View Menu topic.

Backup your data: It is always a good idea to make backups to protect your data against damage or loss. Assuming you installed Nova Office on your C drive, Day One Nova Office stores your cases inC:\NOVA\AOD32.MDB. If you installed Nova Office on a drive other than C substitute the appropriate drive in the directory paths listed above. We recommend you back up your directories on a daily, weekly, or biweekly basis, as determined by your information manager.

TIP: Keep at least two generations of backups. For example, if you backup your files on Monday and Tuesday, use two different tapes or sets of disks. Then, when you backup on Wednesday, write over Monday’s backup. On Thursday, write over Tuesday’s backup. Then if Thursday’s backup should go bad, you still have Wednesday’s backup with most of your data.
