Using NOVA Maps

Launching Nova Maps from Nova Forms

With the desired appraisal open, click the "Launch Map Program" icon on the toolbar.

Resolving Addresses

After launching Nova Maps from Forms, the Resolve Addresses dialog is displayed (see figure 1 below). The status of each property will initially be ‘searching’. Once the address is verified, the status will change to GOOD. There are two other status possibilities: ERROR and GOOD+. In some cases, the address may be slightly ambiguous, in which case a dialog will be displayed (see figure 2 below) for you to select the most correct address. Once the desired address is selected, the status is changed to GOOD+. In other cases, the address may not be found. This can be due to incorrect data entry of the property address, or possibly, the address may be too new to appear in the map database. To modify an incorrect address, select that address and click the Modify button. Make the appropriate changes, and click OK. The search for that address will resume automatically. If the address can not ultimately be resolved, do not fret, as the location can be manually placed on the map later.

Generating a Map

After all addresses are resolved, click the Generate Map button and select the desired scale. If you would like Nova Maps to auto-scale for you, select the Auto-Scale option. Momentarily, the map will be displayed. If the scale is not to your liking, select Map | Generate Map and select a different scale. Note: you will not be charged for another map.

Adding and moving icons

To manually add other icons, including markers for properties that could not be resolved, click the Annotation Mode icon image\ebd_ebd86.gif on the toolbar, click the desired location on the map, then select from the available options as shown in figure 3 below.

To move an icon, you can click on the icon itself and drag it around. You can also click on the end of the "stick" attached to the icon and point to a different location.

Updating the Forms Map Addendum

After the map has been completed, select Map | Update D1Forms Map Addendum, and the map image will be placed onto the Location Map Addendum. Any properties that resolved correctly will also have their Proximity to Subject populated on the appraisal form.
